Marc Gowdy
Bagpiper
Marc was a late convert to the bagpiping world. He played blues
harmonica on and off through college and after and played in a local
Seacoast band in the early 90's, "Blues on the Halfshell". Sometime
in his early 40's, he heard some pipes on St. Patrick's Day and the
hair on the back of his neck stood up and he thought, "Boy that
sounded great!" So he called a piper who put him in touch with
Dover, NH piper Doug Cals, an amazing and accomplished teacher.
Having started so late in life, Marc was hesitant to join a band,
especially one populated with grade school kids that could play jigs
and reels like nobody’s business, but couldn't legally tip back a
Guinness. Eventually though, Marc found the Claddagh Mhor band and a
home at last where he can finally learn to march!
Aside from piping, Marc loves to go to camp, hunt, fish, snowmobile,
ski, read, cook, build stuff, play on his tractor, travel and work
sometimes.
